In our data files, we've assigned numerical values to various industries. We've tried to arrange the industries in something of a logical order, so that if our computer program finds that industries 10 through 20 were the best performing industries yesterday, that information is actually meaningful. Thus, metals, mining, raw materials, etc., are bunched together, computer-related businesses are bunched together, etc. However, it's impossible to arrange the list in a perfectly "sensible" way, so, for example, you'll see "alcoholic beverages" followed by "footwear".

After the industry, we've included the rough percentage of stocks in our database that fall into this category.
